Distracted Driving

Experience demands focus. Don't drive distracted.

Every road tells a story. The miles behind you, the destination ahead, the people waiting when you get there. But that story only continues when you stay focused behind the wheel.

Distracted driving claimed 3,208 lives on America's roadways in 2024, injuring more than 315,000 others. For CMV drivers operating vehicles that can weigh up to 80,000 pounds, even a momentary lapse in focus can have fatal consequences. The size and weight of large trucks and buses make every second of inattention count.

Federal regulations already prohibit CMV drivers from using handheld mobile devices while driving. Violations carry serious penalties and can result in driver disqualification. But beyond the rules, this is about something bigger: your experience, your pride in the job, and your responsibility to everyone sharing the road with you.

Stay focused. Stay present. Stay safe.

  • Put your phone away. No call, text, or notification is worth a life.
  • Set your GPS and route before you start driving, never while in motion.
  • Never drive fatigued. Drowsy driving is distracted driving. Get the rest you need before your trip, and pull over if you feel tired on the road.

Large truck and bus drivers are at the core of the American economy. The road deserves your full attention. So does everyone waiting for you at the end of it.
